The Talents Universe
The great book of children fighting off monsters and taking on the darkness in the world has come to an epic ending. I had shivers and chills from it all and so many more questions that need answering. I loved being inside of this story world and knowing all the characters and who they are and their talents. Marlowe and Charlie were some of my favourites and it was achingly sad when Marlowe closed the orsine using his shining gift and Charlie had to watch his friend go. He is such a brave boy and still only a child, but he took upon himself many grown up things and had to face cruel and hurtful monsters and people. All the child talents in this book, like Komako, Oskar and Ribs are filled with a precious strength and they had to do many hard tasks in order to help those they love and care about. One of my favourite ending scenes was when Marlowe sealed the orsine and drew the spirit dead back inside with him. He comes from that world after all, made of it, but he also belongs to the human world and has the warmth in him the dead do not have. Charlie told Marlowe he was going in with him, but the shining boy said you’ve got to stay here, so that you can find a way to bring me back. I loved that part between them, for they are special together. Charlie has learned there is a second orsine and the second book I believe will be covering his adventure with the rest of his talent friends, in finding Marlowe through the other bridge to the dead world. I have a feeling this sequel to the story will take place in Italy and what a cool place to be in for this world of otherworldly people and creatures. Supernatural children roaming the streets and countryside of Italy with all its pretty architecture, I say yes to that.
